Google’s new AI model has shaken up the AI race by leapfrogging ChatGPT/OpenAI as the new AI favorite.

Context

Nvidia has dominated the AI chip market with its graphics processing units, which power most AI infrastructure development. The company’s market value peaked above $5T last month, driven by massive demand for its chips from tech companies building AI systems. Since then, concerns about competition have caused Nvidia's stock to fall, bringing its current market value to $4.2T. Meanwhile, Google has been developing its own specialized chips called Tensor Processing Units (TPUs), which until now were only available through its cloud computing service.
