Context
President Trump filed a $15B defamation lawsuit against The New York Times this week, citing articles that allegedly damaged his reputation through claims of fraud. The suit also targeted interviews with Trump’s former chief of staff, John Kelly, who called Trump a fascist. Trump’s complaint alleged that the Times “maliciously published the Book and the Articles knowing that these publications were filled with repugnant distortions and fabrications about President Trump.” The Times dismissed the case as meritless intimidation.
Judge Rejects Complaint
A US district judge dismissed Trump’s lawsuit against The New York Times on Friday but gave the president 28 days to file a new version.
