Kimmel Off the Air

Show Pulled
ABC announced that it had suspended “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” indefinitely after the host made controversial comments about the assassination of Charlie Kirk.
Context
This week, following Kirk’s death, employees across various industries lost their jobs or faced disciplinary action for their social media posts and public comments about the assassination. Companies – from Office Depot to The Washington Post – have terminated employees for statements deemed inappropriate about Kirk's death. Both MSNBC political analyst Matthew Dowd and The Washington Post columnist Karen Attiah have been fired over their comments about Kirk.
Cancellation
The Disney-owned ABC network pulled Kimmel’s show off the air starting Wednesday evening following mounting pressure from the Federal Communications Commission and affiliate stations.
