Marjorie Taylor Greene Resigns From Congress

Resignation Announced

Georgia Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R) announced on Friday she would resign from Congress.

Context

Greene was elected to Congress in 2020 and became one of the most prominent voices in the MAGA movement. She was a staunch Trump supporter, but her relationship with Trump deteriorated in recent months over issues related to the Epstein files, economic policy, and foreign policy priorities. Last week, Trump publicly attacked Greene, calling her a "traitor" and threatening to support a primary challenger against her over her support for a bill that would compel the Justice Department to release files related to Jeffrey Epstein.

Resignation

On Friday night, Greene announced her resignation in a video and written statement posted on social media, saying she would step down on January 5, 2026.
