Palestine Action Arrests

Protest Arrests
UK police arrested 890 people at a protest challenging a ban on Palestine Action, a pro-Palestine group deemed by the UK government to be a terrorist organization.
Context
Palestine Action advocates for "direct action" to stop British support for Israel.
Since 2021, the group has occupied and vandalized corporate facilities it said was enabling Israel. In June, two of its members broke into a British military base and caused £7M+ ($9.4M) of damage to air force jets. The group was subsequently deemed a terrorist organization. The move sparked fierce pushback from many Palestine-sympathetic Britons. One of the group's lawyers said at the time, "This is the first time in our history that a direct action civil disobedience group, which does not advocate for violence, has been sought to be proscribed as terrorists." Belonging to the group or expressing support for it is now punishable with up to 14 years in prison in the UK.
