Trump Backs Epstein Files Release

Position Reversed
President Trump urged House Republicans to support releasing Justice Department files related to Jeffrey Epstein, reversing his previous opposition to the measure.
Context
The House of Representatives scheduled a vote for Tuesday on legislation that would compel the Justice Department to release all unclassified documents related to its investigations of Epstein. Epstein died in jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges, having previously been convicted in 2008 of soliciting prostitution from a minor. The Justice Department accumulated thousands of documents during its investigations, including witness interviews and materials seized from Epstein's properties.
Trump Reverses
On Sunday night, Trump wrote on social media that House Republicans "should vote to release the Epstein files, because we have nothing to hide."
