TV Broadcasters Boycott Kimmel

Broadcast Boycott
Major broadcast companies Nexstar and Sinclair refused to air “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” in dozens of markets across the US.
Context
The controversy began when Kimmel made comments during a monologue about the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk in Utah. Disney initially suspended Kimmel, but backtracked on Monday, saying that execs had “spent the last days having thoughtful conversations” with Kimmel and decided to bring the show back on Tuesday. The decision followed formal negotiations that began last Thursday, with Disney executives, including CEO Robert Iger, meeting Kimmel at his lawyer’s office in Los Angeles.
Stations Boycott
Nexstar and Sinclair, which together own more than 60 ABC affiliates reaching about 22% of the country, announced on Tuesday that they would not broadcast “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” despite Disney’s decision to resume production.
