US Aircraft Carrier Arrives Near Venezuela

The US' largest aircraft carrier arrived in the Caribbean, escalating tensions with Venezuela.
Context
In early September, the Trump Administration began conducting strikes against suspected drug-trafficking boats in the Caribbean and the Pacific. The US has carried out 19 such strikes, killing 76 people, per the administration, sparking a legal debate about whether the strikes violate international law.
President Trump has accused Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro of links to drug cartels, which Maduro denies. To pressure his regime, Trump deployed the USS Gerald R Ford to the Caribbean in late October, adding to eight warships, a nuclear submarine, and F-35 aircraft already in the region.
Military Capabilities
The Ford entered the Caribbean on Tuesday, bringing with it several destroyers equipped with Tomahawk missiles and military aircraft capable of striking land targets.
