Visas Revoked
The State Department revoked the visas of at least six foreign nationals who made celebratory comments on social media about the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
Context
Following Kirk’s fatal shooting last month, US officials threatened deportations for foreigners on visas celebrating the assassination. Secretary of State Marco Rubio warned that they should "prepare to be deported,” while the Deputy Secretary of State directed consular officials to monitor social media for such comments and identify their authors.
State Department Action
The State Department announced on Tuesday that it had revoked visas for individuals from Argentina, Brazil, Germany, Mexico, Paraguay, and South Africa after reviewing their social media posts about Kirk’s death.
